The Renaissance in Quattrocento Italy
Piazzale Michelangiolo, Piazzale Michelangelo, Florence, Metropolitan City of Florence, Italy
This module highlights the art of the Quattrocento in Italy. The city of Florence in the 15th century was the central stage for this influential time in history. The city rose to its status as a cultural epicenter due to the many affluent and prominent Italian families all living within Florence. Vast wealth and direct access to the papacy in Rome led to the patronage of artists such as Donatello, Brunelleschi, Masaccio, in addition to monastic leaders and artists like Fra Lippi and Fra Angelico.
