  Module 3 travels across the Mediterranean Sea to Ancient Egypt, one of the longest surviving civilizations of the ancient world.  Having created some of the largest ancient structures, artifacts and landmarks are located almost entirely along the banks of the Nile River.  Why? As the second longest river in the world, communities thrived and this was echoed in the crops there, too. The Mespotamian communities and their crops thrived in the fertile crescent between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. Let's compare the Mespotamian and Egyptian civilizations: similar in circumstances with fertile soil and military organization but the sheer size of the Nile river expontentially amplified the Egyptian's capabilities.
